  • HOW LONG ARE COUNSELING SESSIONS?
Counseling session length can vary slightly based on individual therapy goals, therapy modality, and clinician discretion. The initial appointment is typically 90 minutes in length so that we can discuss your developmental history, understand your goals for counseling, and answer any questions you may have about the counseling process. Routine sessions will then range from approximately 45-55 minutes.
  • WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF TIME SOMEONE SPENDS IN THERAPY?
Duration of therapy can vary depending on counseling frequency, treatment goals, individual progress, medical necessity, and client preference. After your initial appointment, your clinician will provide you with their professional recommendation on the frequency of sessions, counseling modalities, and approximate length of treatment that may best address your goals for counseling. We welcome you to share your preferences during this time so your clinician can collaborate with you to customize a treatment plan that works best for you. We believe that a strong working alliance between a client and therapist is key to therapeutic progress. Therefore, we dedicate time to building rapport and truly getting to know our clients. This process can take time and is unique for each client. We offer various therapy modalities ranging from solution focused counseling sessions that are typically eight sessions focused on a specific treatment goal to client centered sessions that can occur over the span of a couple years. Please consult your individual provider for additional information and professional recommendations.
  • CAN I USE MY HSA OR FSA BENEFITS?
Yes, we currently accept HSA and FSA benefits to cover associated costs of sessions. You may also be able to utilize Employee Assistance Program benefits if your EAP program is also provided by BCBS or Aetna.
  • ARE MY SESSIONS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE?
The therapists at Vitality Family Therapy are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. Each insurance plan is unique in that copays, co-insurance amounts, and deductibles vary with each plan. Therefore we recommend that you contact your insurance provider directly for the most accurate information regarding your insurance benefits. If you have insurance through an insurance provider other than BCBS and Aetna then our therapists would be considered out of network. Some plans have out of network benefits and therefore we are happy to provide you with a superbill or invoice that you may share with your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. We also offer self pay options for clients who prefer private pay.
  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
The time you schedule for counseling is reserved specifically for you. If you fail to come to your appointment, the hour goes unused. Please notify your clinician directly as soon as you realize you cannot keep your scheduled appointment. There are no charges for cancelled appointments provided that you give 24 hours notice; however, a fee of $100 will be applied to your account for no-shows and cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice. This additional fee is not reimbursable by insurance and will be processed to the card on file. Should the card on file decline, this fee will be due prior to the start of the next scheduled session. We appreciate your understanding.
  • CAN I TEXT MY THERAPIST?
Text is a helpful and convenient way to communicate with your therapist regarding scheduling appointments. While we utilize HIPAA compliant technology, we ask that you do not text any sensitive information as written communication is not a confidential means of communication. Texting cannot be used in place of sessions. It is typically best to coordinate your next appointment so your therapist can provide you with their undivided attention and the care that you deserve.
  • WHAT ARE YOUR BUSINESS HOURS?
Business hours are by appointment only. Please contact your individual therapist for available appointment times. Some of our therapists offer evening appointments on weekdays to accommodate work and school schedules. Vitality Family Therapy does not offer after hour services. If you or your family member are experiencing an emergency please call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room for immediate assistance. Please note that due to the nature of our work we are typically in sessions. We will try to respond to you within two business days regarding ongoing communication or appointment scheduling.
